President's Message

WELCOME! to the Fox Valley AEYC website. If this is your first time to site, we invite you to peruse each of the links in order to find out who we are and what we will be working on to support you, as an early childhood professional. If you are already a member and haven't been to the website recently, please look around as we have some exciting new changes in place.

aeycHib Flowers, such as this Hibiscus, are blooming everywhere and in some cases they are as big as the changes the Fox Valley AEYC has experienced in the past two months.

The first change requires a few acknowledgments and an expression of appreciation on behalf of the Board of Directors. Dalila Alegria, one of our board members, has recently tendered her resignation, from the Board, in order to accept a new job. The high quality of work as a member of the Fox Valley AEYC team, in the last two years that I have been on the Board, has been a tremendous asset for us all. Thank YOU, Dalila and best wishes on your new position.

Second, Linda Anderson served as President when I became President Elect in 2014. She has served on the Board and in Executive positions for many years. On behalf of the Fox Valley AEYC, thank YOU, Linda for all of the service you have provided over the years, it is very much appreciated.

Third, the State has finally approved a partial budget; see more details in this month’s newsletter. Fourth, conversations with the DuPage AEYC and Joliet AEYC are temporarily on hold, due to recent resignations of Executive Board members. We’ll keep you updated when and if the meetings reconvene.  Fifth, a new deadline date has been announced by NAEYC with regard to reporting what the Fox Valley AEYC wants to do as far as the restructuring goes:

Become a Chapter or

Affiliate (combining with others) or

Disband altogether.

Be sure to weigh in and let us know what you’d like the Fox Valley AEYC to become before the end of August 2016.

Finally, we are in the beginning stages of discussing the possibility of co-hosting an Art and Science Symposium with other like-minded organizations.  Is this something you would like to participate in and attend?  Would you like to volunteer to help in the planning and implementing stages?  Let’s us know; we welcome your input and support!

Wishing a marvelous month and looking forward to your feedback and suggestions.

Linda Luxion
